体操選手の育て方

初めまして、体操競技を行っている男子の親です。
私は、体操競技経験は有りません。
現在息子は、小学4年生で体操クラブに所属し県大会に出て成績を残す程度になりました。練習は、平日4時間、土日7時間、を6日間/週練習しています。
もちろん本人も楽しく練習に励んでいて上昇志向を持っているようです。
体操競技で上位を望む、夢はオリンピックとかの場合、何が重要になって来るのでしょうか？環境？コーチ？仲間？ライバル？etc・・・
全国区で見ると実績の薄い県ですので、中学から体操の有名な他県の学校に行くべきか？とか県内の体操で有名な高校行っても全国上位レベルではないので卒業までの時間がもったいない気がしたりして・・・でも今の環境は県内では恵まれている方だと思います。
この先、無駄なく体操技術を磨き夢を夢でなくすには、どのような進路が有効なのか皆様のご意見を頂ければと思います。
